Editor review
Neon Crosshair runs a top-down arena shooter with twenty escalating waves. Sixteen enemy types maintain distinct silhouettes so the visual readability holds in dense waves. The silhouette discipline is the design choice that lifts this above the average arena shooter.
The wave pacing builds out steadily. Waves one to five teach the enemy roster. Waves six to fifteen layer roster combinations. Waves sixteen to twenty introduce variant types that share base silhouettes with elite behaviour. The curve respects the player and the enemy roster does not feel padded.
Played across two evenings and a Toronto TTC subway commute. Each run takes around fifteen to twenty minutes at the mid-tier. Auto-save preserves wave progress.
The weakness is the audio mix. Weapon sounds dominate the mix and the enemy audio cues get lost in dense waves. Players who rely on audio cues for elite types will struggle on phone speakers. Four-and-a-half stars overall.
