Neon Derby runs a season-of-twenty format. Each match takes under five minutes, saves progress automatically, and the season concludes with a knockout bracket. The season structure gives the loop a longer-tail commitment than most arcade sports titles.
The match-to-match pacing is well-tuned. The AI difficulty scales with your season position; finishing top of the table puts you against tougher AI in the finals. The scaling reads honestly and never feels like the AI is cheating to punish a winning streak.
I played across two weeks and several Toronto TTC subway commutes. The format suits the commute well. Each match fits a single ride.
